So, I had so much fun with the colours of the Mexican wedding that Tara and Nick planned, that I couldn’t help but to shoot some Infra-Red photographs while I was down there. Here are a few of the many that I shot. I’m planning to launch a Fine Art website later this year, or early next, and the IR shooting that I’m doing will play a large part in that site.

My blog faithful know that I was nominated for an exemplary customer service awards through the City of Edmonton which is called the You’re Welcome Edmonton Awards.

Well, the big gala awards ceremony was at the Winspear Centre last night, so Janice and I headed off to see if I was a finalist, and if I might be the lucky winner of this prestigious award.

My category was up first, and although I had my camera at the ready, I literally froze up and started shaking a bit when they called my name and company out as a finalist to the crowd of about 1000 people. A mere few seconds later, they called out the winner Amanda Jovine, and while I was a bit deflated, I was very happy just to have been nominated by my clients, much less being a finalist!

What was TOTALLY cool, was when I got home from the awards, I was watching the news on Global TV, and there was my mugshot at the awards ceremony on the big screen listing me as a finalist! I’m trying to get the video clip from Global, and with their permission will post it up here!

So, I’ll update here with a photo or two from the gala. Congratulations to Amanda Jovine, the winner in the outstanding retail services category.

Wow, what a week it was. I am just getting into the photographs and have hardly made a dent in them so far.

Tara and Nick are just an amazing couple, and I’m blessed to have been chosen by them to be their photographer for their wedding in Cancun, Mexico this past week. We’ve really hit it off throughout the last year, and I’m sure that we’ll be close friends for many years to come.

While I was getting ready to go, I sent out an email to a couple of my buddies to let them know that I’d be away for the week in Cancun. My good friend Greg Bumatay, an Orange County and Destination Wedding Photographer, from the LA Area emailed me back right away saying that he was going to Mexico on a family vacation. Well, a few quick emails back and forth, and sure enough Greg was coming along to second shoot with me that day. And what a glorious day it was! Thanks so much for coming out Greg. Now, on to some of my photos!

Well, a couple of weekends ago, Tiffany, Jason and I hooked up to take care of their e-session photos. We met up at city hall in Edmonton and went from there.

We were having a blast shooting on the marble stairs in the main area of city hall, when this extremely nice security guard informed me that we actually required written permission to shoot there. Oops! My bad! Thankfully, he didn’t bust us with a ticket or anything, and we moved on to the Shaw Conference Centre shortly thereafter.

It was an extremely windy and brisk day, so we mostly stayed indoors, but ventured out at the Shaw for the finale to our shoot.

I’m blasting out to Cancun tonight to shoot Tara and Nick’s wedding on Monday, and then I’m back on Friday in time (hopefully) for the rehearsal for Tiffany and Jason’s wedding, which is next Saturday the 12th. I’m TOTALLY stoked about their wedding at the Hotel Macdonald next weekend! They could hardly keep their hands off each other during the e-session, and I love it when I see that kind of love is a daily part of a couple’s life. See you guys next weekend.
